Taken from his autumn 2021 second album, Omw 4ev, Louie Short has released the single ‘What Can I Do’. It’s a track with an interesting enough backstory to warrant its own release. Originally penned by Short’s father in the late 1970s, he injects it with a new lease of life. Rich melodies and a true retro sound show how the track has been plucked from a wholly different era and re-imagined, while preserving the feeling of the original. Now, we’ve been treated to the 1979 BJ Cook original. It’s a totally different track in many ways, but hearing the cross-generational transformation is a real treat. -Dan Peeke
